Supermodels, sinners, and saints.

Angela wrote a nice post entitled, “Supermodel Your Hero? Hold that thought.” about Adriana Lima’s latest GQ cover:
Remember the secular world’s shock and the Catholic world’s awe when supermodel Adriana Lima told a GQ interviewer that she was a strong Catholic and would remain a virgin until after marriage?
But wait…
What’s this?
In a more recent edition [...]

The Bella Mafia, Parte Dos

The comment fest on the post “This is the franchise that doesn’t end…” has prompted me to write another post on some of the questions I received.
My main point about the new “Bella” book and the “Bella” movie phenomenon in general is that while I was and still am happy about the film’s success, I [...]

CFS Exclusive: LA Narnia Premiere Photos

No, I didn’t go to the premiere, but a friend of mine did and granted me permission to publish the photos. These are personal photos, not the WireImage kind. In other words, please don’t steal them or else I won’t try to get premiere photos anymore.

PS: A couple of them are a [...]

I met Kurt Russell Jeff Bridges.

I met him, and I still haven’t lived the embarrassment down.
You know when you do something so stupid you can’t even believe you did it yourself? Well hold on to your rosaries for this story…
So last Friday the 9th was Bacclaureate Mass, the annual final mass of the year for the graduating seniors. It was [...]

Bella’s #1 on Amazon.com

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised:

Bella is the No. 1 pre-sale romantic movie on Amazon.com. The pro-life film, which is available on DVD today, earned the “People’s Choice Award” at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival.
Eduardo Verastegui, the star of Bella, told CBN News: “I think it’s a wonderful tool to spread the word [...]

Go get it.

“Bella” hits stores today. If you go by bus, air, Ebay–whatever…just go get it. Congrats to the entire Metanoia team.

And as a random aside, congratulations to Joshua and Shannon of The Perseverance Podcast who are celebrating their third wedding anniversary today. Three cheers for Catholic love!

The Revolution continues…

Spero News did a nice interview with Seth Kleg, a Christian filmmaker out of Las Vegas whose newest endeavor is his company The Christian Studio.
I’ve never heard of him before, but the man speaks truth:
MW: Do mainstream studio decision makers really care about the values and morals of America? Are there other Hollywood voices [...]

Unbelievable.

Completey, utterly, and undeniably unbelievable.
YouTube and that unfunny has-been with a fleeting career Damon Wayans proudly present….Abortion Man!
With that title alone…I just…I have no words. Go to YouTube and flag it please.

Pax Christi, Rebecca.

I don’t wanna see your man junk.

I now pause my regularly scheduled Pope Benedict coverage to talk about man junk.
If you don’t know what “man junk” is, you’re either not a man, an unmarried and/or virginal woman, or you’re too young to be reading my blog that is currently rated PG-19. If this is the case, please grab a parent or [...]

Behold the beginning of an empire.

Well, I don’t know if I’m cut out to have an empire, but I’m starting something or other and it needs a title. LOL.
I just found out that my favorite teacher of all time from high school passed away a few days ago. He was awesome, one of those rare teachers that [...]

Believe me, the revolution is alive and well.

The California Daily Catholic published an article today (in which I was mentioned!) entitled, “Will the Millennium Generation Stand Up for the Dignity of Life?” about the Cinema Vita Film Festival and the next generation of pro-life filmmakers.
Right now, I’m incredibly sleepy because I was up all night traveling across Los Angeles county for what [...]

RIP Charlton Heston (1924-2008)

Other than the fact that he has a really cool name, Charlton Heston was known for his leading roles in various religious and cowboy films, my favorite of which being “The Ten Commandments.” (1956)
Rest in peace brother.

Kathy Lee Gifford

Eduardo Verastegui

Louise DuArt & Carol Burnett

Louise DuArt doing…errm….

Eduardo Verastegui (apparently Team Metanoia wasn’t there), Kathy Lee Gifford, and Tim Conway who was given the Lifetime Achievement Award

This is random, but is it just me or does this event look like it was only fun if you had a couple of drinks first? It [...]

Sweeeeeeeeeet.

My spring break doesn’t begin officially until Friday, but I get to skip off campus early this semester because this Thursday evening I will be traveling to Anaheim with the sacristan & acolyte (altar server) ministries for the Religious Education Congress. Since my university is the largest Catholic school in LA, the archdiocese employs [...]

Heck yeah baby.

“Juno” got exactly what it deserved. Best Screenplay!

Now we just have to see if Diablo Cody can pump out more awesome screenplays, or if this was just a one-time thing. More Oscar commentary to come in the next vlog…

Sexy.

I’m glad somebody said it:
A row has erupted over “Vatican interference” after the Italian Synod of Bishops appealed to actors to exercise their consciences and refuse to take part in “vulgar and destructive” erotic scenes in films.
The appeal follows public condemnation by the bishops of an explicit sex scene in Caos Calmo, starring the Italian [...]

12 Feb

Questionable? Indeed.

I’ve been sitting on this post for what seems like weeks now, but whatever, better late than never right?
Harry Forbes, the head of the USCCB’s office for Film & Broadcasting, has come under fire yet again, for his endorsement of certain questionable Hollywood films.
LifeSite has led the charge:
Harry Forbes, the Director of the USCCB Office [...]

11 Feb

Yep, it’s over.

It’s not officially official until the guild takes a vote, but the strike is over. A number of writers returned to work today with the rest to follow suit throughout the week.
I must say, the LA Times has had excellent coverage of the strike these past few months:
THERE’S no real way to gauge who [...]

09 Feb

It’s Over. (Almost.)

The guild has reached a tentative deal. It looks like the strike is over, but we’ll see. More commentary coming soon…
