I had a conversation yesterday that went a little something like this:
“Rebecca, we need $500 grand.”
*blank stare*
“Is there anyone in your camp that can cut us a loan for $500 grand?”
*blank stare*
“J, don’t you think if I knew someone with $500 grand they would be funding my projects?”
“Yeah, that’s what everyone keeps saying. But no [...]

Another powerful and poignant piece from the boys at Grassroots Films….kinda wish something like it had come out before the election though.

1. I’m going to the Walk For Life in San Francisco this Saturday! I’m going with some CU peeps and we’re leaving at 3:30 am…you read that correctly. (Do I get an indulgence for going?)
2. Please pray for 40 Days For Life. There are more and more restrictions being placed on pro-lifers, and we at [...]

FYI, if I ever drop off from posting for a few days it’s because something has happened in my offline life that I’m eventually going to tell you about anyway. LOL.
The talent for January’s Catholic Underground LA was the Cajun band L’angelus, made up of siblings Katie, Stephen, and Paige Rees. It was the largest [...]

“Rosary Stars” is exactly what it sounds like—a bunch of celebrities praying and reflecting on the mysteries of the rosary.
Justin Fatica, Immaculee Ilibagiza, Chris Kramer, Ali Landry, and a host of other actors and Catholic public figures pray the entire rosary, and then share some of their experiences with the power of this devotion. I [...]

WingClips.com is a site with hundreds of downloadable movie clips categorized by the moral or virtue they showcase. There are clips for everything from lying and cheating to beauty and romance. I’m not quite sure if it’s legal, but the site is a great resource for teachers, priests, parents, etc.

As I’ve already said before, I’m now interning both at Origin Entertainment and Family Theater Productions. I’ve been at Origin for about a month now, and I had my first day at Family Theater on Friday. From time to time I’ll let you know how things are going, so consider this the first post of [...]

Boy oh boy was I pleasantly surprised by this film.
The trailer made the film look like a silly dog movie, but it is quite the contrary. “Marley and Me” is the story of the marriage of John and Jennifer Grogan (Owen Wilson & Jennifer Aniston), two journalists living in the south of Florida.
Jennifer has a [...]

Sorry there weren’t any posts yesterday, but I’ve been having wisdom teeth problems and spent the majority of my day in the dentist’s office. I have to travel back to LA today and posting will resume in the evening.

A few weeks ago, I was visiting with my Protestant “non-denominational” side of the family when the 80s mini-series “The Thorn Birds” came on television.
This mini series covers 60 years in the lives of the Cleary family, brought from New Zealand to Australia to run their aunt Mary Carson’s ranch. The story centers on their [...]

I saw “Doubt” over the weekend. The verdict is still out on what I thought about it. Critically speaking, it was excellent, but I have some reservations about the third act of the movie.
This week, I will be writing a little mini series on the representation of priests on film. I’ve been working [...]
