Rollin’ with the homies.

I just came from a screening of “Father G and the Homeboys”, a documentary about Fr. Greg Boyle and his work in the non-profit he founded, Homeboy Industries.
Homeboy Industries is basically a one-stop shop for any gang member who wants to leave his/her old life. They provide counseling, tattoo removal, drug rehabilitation, job placement, and [...]

The marketing of evil.

I was at work when I looked to my left and saw this. Look closely.

Do you see it? Check out that bubble #2, paired with the sexed up main couple, and the ambiguous looking pair at the bottom of this “divine shoreline”.
The dolphin is the only part I like.

Readiness and marriage go together like a horse and carriage. And so does waiting.

Randy from over at Purify Your Bride has written a post about one of my previous posts, which has prompted me to make another post. (hehe…)
I’ve talked about why I’ve decided to wait to date, but I have yet to talk about what that waiting is really like. Quite frankly, it sucks most of the [...]

Hollywood is pro-life (?)

Hollywood is pro-life? Believe me when I say that’s a myth.
When the film “Knocked Up” premiered over the summer, the NY Times published a story on Hollywood’s lack of pro-abortion films. The word “abortion” had never even been used in a mainstream film, and the author of the story was quite disappointed in Hollywood’s failure [...]

I’m not a klepto. (Not exactly.)

I went shopping yesterday at the Grove, a very nice place to shop and sightsee if you’re ever in LA. There’s usually celebrities out and about, but unfortunately the only sighting I had was Djimon Hounsou, that random African guy that turns up in every movie. (But he was very nice.) My girlfriend started screaming [...]

I think I’m going to buy myself a wedding cake.

O God, I love You, and I love the sacrament of Confession too.
Amen.

I’m going into hiding. (Cue my sad face.)

That’s the only way I can think of it.
So I still haven’t posted my resume (yet), but I currently work at a newspaper in San Diego. I have a weekly column and I do some editing, as well as personal assistant type work for the publisher who also owns some other companies. My writing has [...]

Strike! Strike! Strike!

I’m on strike people! So help me God!
As I’m sure you already know, the Writers Guild is on strike here in Hollywood. I don’t want anyone thinking this is just some passing fad or just a bunch of rich writers whining about money, because nothing could be further from the truth. Here’s a summary of [...]

(My) Bad.

I’m always on the go. ALWAYS.
And so although I have a routine of prayer devotions and attend daily mass, sometimes I feel like I haven’t prayed at all. My head will be buzzing with all of the things I have to do, and I’ll forget to sit in silence and really listen to what [...]

Hey, it happens. (So put the pitchfork away.)

By now I’m sure all EWTN fans have heard about Fr. Francis Mary, host of “Life on the Rock”. I myself was absolutley crushed.
There have been some conspiracy theories circulating around the internet, and I’d like to say my piece. I don’t mean to disrespect the priesthood, but hey people, laicization happens. I wish the [...]

St. Martin de Porres, pray for us.

This guy is one of my favorite saints.
I remember back in 5th grade I had to do this project on a saint. I don’t remember who I wanted to do, but my Mom would not lay off untill I told her I was going to do St. Martin. “You’ll like him,” I remember her saying. [...]
